Achilles tendinopathy and tears
The Achilles tendon is the strongest tendon in the human body and connects the heel to the calf muscles. It may develop inflammation, known as tendinitis, and structural tendon changes (tendinopathy) when tendinitis persists beyond the expected recovery time due to repetitive microtrauma.
Due to excessive stress placed on this tendon or trauma, tears may also occur, sometimes requiring surgical intervention. After surgery, rehabilitation should follow a specific protocol to restore mobility, strength, gait, and normal function.
