Coccydynia
This is a condition in which pain occurs around the coccyx. There may be different causes for this problem. The most common causes involve direct falls onto the coccyx, leading to small alterations in its joint position and generating ligament tension. Another common cause may be related to changes in its position during childbirth, or to alterations of the muscular structures and ligaments attached to the coccyx. This condition is also important because of the relationship of the coccyx with the rest of the spine and the imbalances it may cause at a distance, such as in the skull, due to the anatomical continuity provided by certain body structures (e.g. the dura mater).
