Epicondylitis (tennis elbow)
It is a tendinitis (inflammation of the tendons) located at the insertion of the wrist and finger extensor muscles at the level of the epicondyle (outer side of the elbow). The most common cause of this condition is repetitive movements during certain activities, without sufficient recovery time for the structures, causing excessive tension and microtrauma. The most common symptoms are pain during certain wrist, finger, and elbow movements, located on the outer side of the elbow and potentially radiating along the forearm. The movements that most commonly trigger pain are wrist extension, elbow extension, finger extension, and forearm rotations. It is a very common condition in tennis players and frequent computer users.
