Fractures are usually caused by trauma and are characterized by a loss of bone continuity. Their treatment generally involves a period of immobilization to allow bone healing. After the immobilization period, there is usually a loss of muscle strength in the lower limb, loss of mobility, and gait alterations, making intervention necessary to restore normal movement and reintegration into daily and work-related activities. Some types of fractures require surgical treatment and stabilization with plates or screws, with consequent loss of strength and mobility. In these cases, physiotherapy intervention is also essential to restore normal function.
