This consists of a degenerative pathology of the articular cartilage on the posterior surface of the patella and the corresponding femoral condyles. This condition produces discomfort or pain around or behind the patella. It is common in young adults, especially football players, cyclists, tennis players, and runners. There are some postural alterations that may favor the development of this condition, namely alterations in knee alignment that lead to inadequate distribution of pressure.
