This is a clinical condition characterized by limitation of all shoulder joint ranges of motion (flexion, abduction, internal rotation, and external rotation) due to retraction of the joint capsule surrounding the shoulder. It involves significant functional limitations caused by loss of joint mobility, affecting daily and work-related activities. In most cases, this condition arises after a period of immobilization of the upper limb or as a consequence of an inflammatory or traumatic process that later develops this reaction. In some cases, the origin is unknown. Recovery mainly involves working towards releasing the joint and restoring joint mobility while re-educating the musculature.
