Oncology Physical Therapy

mask white

Physioclem provides rehabilitation care after cancer surgery, including rehabilitation after breast cancer surgery, and prescribes exercises for patients with these clinical conditions.

In the first phase, the patient is assessed and a treatment plan is established, which will be updated according to the patient's clinical condition and any limitations that may arise from treatments or other medication.

Most Frequent Problems

  • Decreased joint range of motion;
  • Decreased muscle strength;
  • Changes in emotional state;
  • Postural changes;
  • Changes in sensitivity;
  • Development of lymphedema;
  • Chest wall adhesions;
  • Pain.

TIP: Stay physically active

Clinical research has shown that exercise is a safe and effective intervention for counteracting many of the adverse physical and psychological effects of cancer and its treatment, namely helping patients tolerate aggressive treatments, minimizing physical decline (aerobic fitness, muscle strength, functional capacity), counteracting cancer-related fatigue, relieving mental stress, helping some people control their mood and sleep patterns, and improving quality of life. Patients who engage in regular physical activity experience fewer side effects from treatment and have a lower risk of cancer recurrence and death from this cause.

Epidemiological studies that have focused predominantly on breast, colon, and prostate cancer suggest that being physically active provides a protective effect against cancer recurrence and cancer-specific mortality. Other long-term epidemiological studies on trends in this disease have shown that those who exercise regularly are less likely to develop breast, colon, or prostate cancer than those who do not. Estimates suggest that this may reduce the risk by up to 60%.
